Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
