No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
