Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players anywhere in the world. While wagering on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world might be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
