Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
