No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer was born into in a family of five in which he enjoyed participating in various card games at a young age. He discovered himself getting very competitive in these card games as he was playing his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard decided to put higher education on hold for a bit and moved away to New York to play some serious chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s initial two years were difficult as he played extensive hours and don’t win a majority of the time. He earned some extra money by being an runner for the poker players. He theorized he possibly could boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He brought about an attempt to get more sleep and focus even more on the game.
The real advancement in his skills happened when he started wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would often compete against one another. He had access into several of the foremost minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard Lederer would tweak his logical thinking abilities. Howard used these strategic ideas in the game of No-Limit hold’em.
Howard also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was a great student of poker as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the correct decision. He told Annie to move out to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie is one of the greatest women players the poker arena ever. Howard moved to Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the successive 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, Howard decided to compete in more tournaments.
